is heaven worth it?
You hear about it all the time, the idea of Heaven being the best place to be after death. The idea of spending an eternity with God and praising and worshipping him. The idea of spending an eternity of being with your loved ones who also passed on.
That all sounds nice, but it's really not. Let me explain why.
There's no growth, no motivation, nothing really to do, and after many long years of living in heaven, everything becomes pointless.
let's say you have friends and family, all talking and enjoying each other's company. Imagine doing the same thing over and over. Sounds all good. Except when it's the same thing over and over. Because nothing new is going on, you can't be sick, you can't be angry, you can't be sad and you can't be worried. what exactly do you plan to do for all eternity then? because everything can be done with no worries. What then? Even when you learn and hear your ancestors' stories of their life on earth, it gets boring hearing it all again. Even jokes are not interesting anymore. You already know what is going on and you never need to ask or wonder. You're practically in stasis, stuck in a picture that never changes.
Say you get to enjoy eating food you love, even though you have no need for food. More likely a nostalgia for the taste of food you enjoyed. Even then, the food would get boring. You ate everything you could think of. It can become bland. Even if it doesn't, what would be the point?
Suppose you can either venture on earth or recreate memories of places you have been to or even want to go to, it can get boring eventually. You've seen it all. You could read and learn all the books you want, but there's nothing else.
Imagine having learned everything and done everything you ever wanted, would you really want to do it all over? Especially when there's no purpose to it. You're not going to improve anything, you're not going to change anything and you're not going to even be able to do anything!
Imagine spending every single day praising and worshipping God. It gets old, really old. After possibly hundreds if not thousands of years later, It would have to get to a point that it's not even worth praising and worshipping God anymore. If God is truly just and loving, he would know and understand that this is not how you treat your creations.
Imagine having to watch your loved ones that are still alive. Imagine watching them do things in their day-to-day life, making choices that improve or damage their life. Watching someone lose their life or suffer pain and there's not a damn thing you could do for them. Imagine one crying because you died and will take their own life because you're gone and can't imagine a day without you. you can't do a damn thing to stop them from ending their life. especially if you knew what you're seeing up here, that is not paradise. imagine watching some twisted person violate or kill your loved one and there's not a damn thing you could do to stop it? would you watch your loved ones be violated, especially when it's a child?
Imagine when coming to Heaven, some of your loved ones are burning in hell for all eternity for reasons that aren't just. Would you enjoy heaven knowing that your mother or even your best friend or lover is burning forever?
After all this, if I were to die, I would rather there be no consciousness or awareness of the hereafter. Rather it would be best if there is no heaven or hell. Heaven after all sounds far worse than hell itself.
